Life without Alcohol – My Journey from the Beginning

A No Holds Barred breakdown of my life and how I am trying to remove my demons to lead a sober life

100 Days + and still counting!!!

Been a long time since I posted on here, life got busy now, back at work and dealing with life’s issues like you do, darts, football, days away mixed in with my railway shift pattern.

Anyway somehow I have found a few minutes to catch up with you all … as I write I have hit another major milestone 123 days teetotal which I am so proud of how far I have come since December, only falldown is how much I am eating (loads) without even putting weight on but seem to lose some then put it back on, dont know why though but hopefully nothing to worry about. Still waiting for my camera results but no news is good news also had to have my diabetic update which come back better than the last one so I suppose not drinking is helping matters.

In my freetime Ive got back to the usual socialising, back playing league darts which without a pint is weird but getting used to it again and it’s my problem to deal with. Ive been and watched my beloved Reds 6 times with 5 straight wins and the last one on Good Friday a defeat so Bad Friday it was, seen my daughter and grandson a few times too which always makes me happy seeing how far he has come in the last few years (he was 7 last week).

One of the downfalls or is it a successful one in saving loads of money is the amount of clothes I am buying I even have had to extend my wardrobe to allow for it. Overall life is good and I’m feeling better in myself, just got to keep focussed.

Like I said I am back at work full time after doing the 4 weeks phased return and I’ve got to admit the phased bit was hard even on reduced hours you don’t realise how illness and not being in a work environment affects you but one major decision I have started to process is .. my retirement in September, my health comes first and my job doesn’t help that a lot at times. I get tired a lot easier and I thought it could be shiftwork but I think in reality it’s the wear and tear I have put my body through over the years.

In November I fulfill a dream I never thought I could afford to do and that’s to go to Iceland to hopefully see the Northern Lights and complete the Golden Circle tour, it’s only 3 nights but I have so much planned to pack in and after doing loads of research on what to wear I am now buying all that winter cold weather gear for my trip so overall a lot to look forward to in the next 12 months.

Til next time ….
